I know it's been a while since I first responded to this post. I've been researching the topic (it's a bit off my normal expertise). In the meanwhile, here is link to a comprehensive document from the Federal Government that defines and explains workplace harassment along with examples and steps to take to deal with it.

How about different EMS levels of support. (EMT Basic, Intermediate(85), Intermediate advanced(94?), EMT-Paramedic.) The roles and direction nationally of each?

How about EMS/paramedics /prehosptal care practitioner/ (insert your own local label) around the world. Look at the differences & the similarities. I know I am always struck by the differences in the USA’s systems. The NZ & UK systems seem more similar to Australia.

Absolutely, Scott. That's why we need to catch up and do an interview on EMS in Australia, Canada, US, UK, NZ, Germany and anywhere else we can think of. There are so many differences but I suspect that many things are the same. Thanks for the input!

another idea is ems and security officer combined? I have had the distinction of being an EMT/Security officer at one time for a company that had a contract with a local college. I was the one who had to help "write" the policy on what we had to do at the college for two EMT/Security Officers and three others who were just first responders/Security Officers. I know that a lot of big time casinos are also looking for EMT/Security Officers as well. Don't know about other places. But I know that it is beneficial when someone who has the EMS training and/or security/law enforcement training to be able to get in almost anywhere w/ the certifications that they have.

I like this idea. I am currently a correctional officer (cat 2) and an EMT. I've seen the EMT-T or tactical EMT names but don't know to much about them. this could also lead to swat medics, etc.

A week or two ago, in the episode with the elevator, it was mentioned that when they RSI'ed one of the patients that they used a different drug than normal. I thought that maybe you could go over the difference of the drugs. Depolarizing vs. Nondepolarizing.

Jamie,
I would be interested to see stats regarding how many departments require their employees to place padding between spinal longboards and their patients. Seems like inhumane treatment that only adds to a patients pain and worsens the outcome.
