I am not talking about the fact that we have AEDs and monitors, etc. I mean the fact that we have the internet! If you think back at all the education in medicine, they came at sheer luck of being in the right hospital, having all the right grades, etc. Now, with the internet, people have access to just about any information that comes in books. Also, there are videos demonstrating skills and such. If there is a misunderstanding on something you were taught, you can simply send a message via e-mail, IM, private message to a knowledgeable superior without much delay. If your superior is lost on the topic as well, you can send a message to someone across country to a knowledgeable peer or educator.
Can you imagine the practitioners and advances we would have if all medicine and paramedicine students got together and made an effort to educate one another like this?
I just got thinking about this forum and Jamie's show here, and I am just in awe of the fact that people actually CARE about their knowledge and skill-sets and are going above-and-beyond to make sure they are providing the best, most current, treatment available.
Anyone have thoughts?
