Hi Jamie,
I think the Mediccast Forum is a great idea, but I have problems navigating around it - it is not very well laid out. Would you consider going to a 'classic' php forum structure, for example http://forums.digitalpoint.com/ ?
Has anyone else mentioned anything similar?

Hi Jamie,
I am a short time listener, but have become loyal and have been listening to a lot of your old podcasts. Your shows are very informative and I will continue to listen. I have even turned my wife, and RN, on to your nurse cast.
I wanted to let you know about a valuable resource I stumbled upon today. I have been preparing to take the NREMT Paramedic written for the 3rd time. I aced my class and the practical portion, but have really been struggling with the written. I have tried several prep books and some online practice tests.
Several podcasts ago, you had a listener ask about audio suplements to study. I found ( audible.com) If you go to audible.com you can search for paramedic books. I have downloaded the vango notes for Paramedic Care: Principles and practice. You can download all volumes by chapter for $2.99 or all chapters for $19.99 for each volume. WOW!!
I think this will be the tool that puts me over the top. Please pass this on to your listeners and let me know if you have any other advice to help me ramp up to take this test again.
Thanks
Chris Tolan

Jamie,
I'd be interested to know if other areas are as bad as our's when it comes to providing some sort of padding on the spinal longboards. Seem a bit humane to place an already spinal injured patient on such a device. Seems I've been taught about "do no harm". Are things better back East?

Thanks for the invite Jamie. I enjoy all the hard work you put into educating us.

EMT Students Win Competition

Two South Carolina teen EMTs have a lot to be happy about. They won a national EMT competition. The competition, hosted by the Health Occupations Students of America National Leadership Conference, included a written test followed by a scenario involving the treatment of two patients. The two new EMTs competed against 50 other teams [...]

Ambulance Service Costs Money!

Two articles caught my eye this week having to do with catching up with the rising costs of running an ambulance service — either public service or private, commercial service. The first article has to do with one region turning to more strict collections policies regarding unpaid ambulance billing. I know that many areas are [...]

Paramedic Invents Cool Product

EMS providers are innovators. We have to be. It’s one thing to learn how to perform a procedure in a well lit classroom. It’s another thing altogether to do the same simple task upside down in a ditch in the dark while the patient is screaming in pain. So what do we do? [...]

More EMS Chopper Crashes

Three helicopter crashes in Arizona in just a few days this past week give me cause for concern about the procedures and safety measures in the medical aviation transport sector of our field. The most recent and surely most devastating crash involved two helicopters which collided with patients on board killing six and severely injuring [...]

Silent Killer Stalks Programmers and Travelers (get back to this page by typing MedicCast.com/dvt into your browser) Podcasters and online radio producers are joining in the fight to stop a silent killer stalking computer programmers, international travelers, and anyone who spends long periods of time immobile. A public service announcement about the dangers of DVT (deep [...]

Ambulance Provider Suicides

An Australian MP is calling for a parliamentary inquiry into what seems to be an unusually high suicide rate among ambulance (EMS) providers there. This article comes in by way of our good friend Tim. Following the apparent murder-suicide of a paramedic and his mother, some are calling for a hard look into why there [...]

New Video for the NREMT Skills Test

The MedicCast is always looking for ways to partner with other high quality EMS sites out there.  That’s why I was very happy to hook up with Jim Hoffman over at EMS-Safety.com to help out with his NREMT Skills Video project. Called the NREMT Audio Video Showcase, the program features a step by step video on [...]
